My family and I have not yet had the opportunity to enjoy the “must see, much needed” movie “War Room” but I was so enthralled with the trailers Holy Spirit prompted me to write this post. How effective is the secret place? Can prayer really make a difference in our life or are we simply shouting at the walls? How often should we pray and why is it so important if God knows the beginning and end?
In War Room’s debut it stunned crowds attracting thousands and making more then $11 million during its opening weekend and from Sept. 4- Sept. 6 taking the number 1 spot with estimates over $9 Million. http://pro.boxoffice.com/
I am privileged to tell you, that prayer not only brings about the needed difference to life but also is the key to unlocking Heaven and bringing the Kingdom of God to earth!
Although prayer is essential in our walk with Jesus Christ, many in the body of Christ have left their secret place drier and more deserted than "The Sahara Desert". War Room is based around Matthew 6:6 and the importance of that, far too often, forgotten place of solitude.
Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
What a beautiful way to continue a thought but contrast the idea based on the audience spoken of! When Jesus says “But you” are you being spoken about now or are you the prior audience. Prayer is conversations that consist of questions, requests, supplications, guidance, smiles and frowns, appreciation, praise, understanding, freedom and much more. In this particular verse, Jesus calls us into communication with our Father in Heaven in a much more deeper and intimate place and time. He points us out directly, brings us into a place followed by the understanding of the privacy. “Go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret”. His command was a personal call to the followers of Jesus.
If He personally called you into communion with Himself, will He not be more than willing to hear your heart and also share His heart with you? Genesis 18:17-19 17 The Lord said, “Should I tell Abraham what I am going to do now? 18 Abraham’s children will certainly become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. 19 I have chosen him so he would command his children and his descendants to live the way the Lord wants them to, to live right and be fair. Then I, the Lord, will give Abraham what I promised him.”
